Javier Botet
Javier Botet López (Cidade Real, 30 de julho de 1977) é um ator espanhol. Frequentemente escalado para papéis de criaturas, ele interpretou Tristana Medeiros na franquia REC (2007–2009), o personagem-título em Mama (2013), Set em A Múmia (2017), Slender Man no filme homônimo de 2018 e Drácula em A The Last Voyage of the Demeter (2023). Suas aparições em filmes de terror também incluem Crimson Peak (2015), The Conjuring 2 (2016), It (2017) e sua sequência de 2019, Insidious: The Last Key (2018) e Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (2019).

Biografia
[editar | editar código]Botet nasceu em Cidade Real, Castela-Mancha, filho de Agustín Andrés Botet Rodríguez e María del Carmen Servilia López Nieto.[1]
Aos cinco anos de idade, ele foi diagnosticado com síndrome de Marfan.[2] A hiperlaxidão de certos tecidos corporais causada pela condição de Botet lhe conferiu dedos extremamente longos e finos, além de uma constituição alta e magra, com Botet medindo 6 pés 7 polegadas (2,01 m) de altura e pesando 123 libras (56 kg).[3]
Carreira
[editar | editar código]O físico único de Botet, aliado a um interesse pessoal pela atuação e pela fantasia, acabou por levá-lo a ser escalado para o filme Beneath Still Waters (2005), de Brian Yuzna.[3] Dois anos depois, ele interpretou o papel de Tristana Medeiros em REC (2007), de Jaume Balagueró e Paco Plaza.[4]
Teatro e televisão
[editar | editar código]Além do cinema, Botet atuou em produções teatrais, como sua interpretação do monstro de Frankenstein na adaptação teatral de Frankenstein (2010) do Teatros del Canal.[5] Ele também apareceu na televisão, inclusive como membro de uma espécie alienígena conhecida como Ba'ul em um episódio de 2019 de Star Trek: Discovery.[6] Além disso, naquele mesmo ano, Botet apareceu como um morto-vivo no episódio "A Longa Noite " (2019) de Game of Thrones.[7]
Prêmios
[editar | editar código]Em 7 de outubro de 2019, Botet, junto com a atriz Maribel Verdú, recebeu a Màquina del Temps (em português: Máquina do Tempo) prêmio no Festival de Cinema de Sitges de 2019.[8] O prêmio anual é concedido especificamente a indivíduos do gênero fantasia por excelência em sua área.[9]
