Improper AfD close/withdrawal
[edit]Hi, I noticed an improperly done AfD withdrawal here and thought it could use some admin attention - both in the sense of improper withdrawal and improperly implemented close (the AfD log for the day is all messed up). ScalarFactor (talk) 17:20, 4 April 2026 (UTC)
- @ScalarFactor: Thanks for flagging, I re-opened due to improper withdrawal. If there are still any issues with the AfD log, you may need to ask another admin to look (OwenX in particular comes to mind as someone likely very well-versed in these things), since I can't guarantee I'll know how to fix it. Left guide (talk) 17:34, 4 April 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you! Nah, that was it re: the AfD log, I'm pretty sure it was just a missing {{Afd bottom}} so the blue background wasn't stopping at the end of its entry. ScalarFactor (talk) 17:35, 4 April 2026 (UTC)
MPE
[edit]At the time of my removal there had not been any comments for nearly 24 hours. Besides, it seems like participants had come to a consensus that there was no error. In the interest of keeping things clean I removed the report. Chorchapu (talk | edits) 22:19, 4 April 2026 (UTC)
- @Chorchapu: I understand, although I disagree on seeing a consensus for no error. My view is that leaving it open would allow others to weigh in and possibly establish clearer consensus. I hadn't continued replying to avoid a lengthy back-and-forth. Despite the fact that the errors page can seem fast-paced at times, there's still no rush to remove any particular report. That said, in non-obvious cases, a more descriptive edit summary like this explaining your thought process would help others, and I probably would've been more inclined to let it slide if that was done. Editnotice bot?
[edit]Hi Left guide! I wanted to check in with you and ask for your thoughts on a bot that would automatically add editnotices to pages protected under arbitration enforcement. I've only been setting them up for a day but it feels like this is a task where an automated process could potentially excel: we already log page protection actions & their corresponding codes at Wikipedia:Arbitration enforcement log/Protections with the help of ClerkBot, and editnotices are often not set up by sysops who are protecting pages. Let me know if this sounds like it'd be a good idea, or if it instead has countless fatal flaws that I couldn't see in my zeal. Thanks, Staraction (talk · contribs) 07:22, 14 April 2026 (UTC) (please ping on reply)
- @Staraction: I'm not sure. At this juncture, I think you'd be looking at filing a request at WP:BOTREQ or one of its related pages, a corner of the project I'm not very familiar with. The folks there would be much better at judging the value and feasibility of your idea compared to me. Left guide (talk) 07:51, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks; I've started a discussion at Wikipedia:Bot requests#Arbitration enforcement editnotices. If you'd like to comment, I'd appreciate your input regarding whether you'd find such a bot useful at all. Best, Staraction (talk · contribs) 13:55, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
GA help
[edit]I would like to try to get reigning NFL MVP Matthew Stafford to GA status. How would I go about doing this? Thank you for your help. Dafootballguy | Want to talk? 02:20, 16 April 2026 (UTC)
- @Dafootballguy: This seems like a worthwhile goal. I think I've informed you before about the GA criteria. The main thing that matters is the quality of the sources and how they're used. The cite highlighter tool is very helpful for quickly getting a rough sense of how reliable an article's sources are in the aggregate. You might like to know I've lately been collaborating on-and-off with an NFL player GA attempt at Talk:T. J. Watt/GA1. Feel free to read it to get a taste of what the GA process might be like.
