Change article title
[edit]I am proposing that I change this article to North Sydney Bears/Western Australia Rugby League NRL Partnership Bid, as this original Western Bears bid is over, but might come back. Someone in a Facebook group said that it might be Perth Bears. I am calling several users like @Doctorhawkes and encourage, but not require them to participate. Since there is now uncertainty of whether it will be My argument for change is that all we now as of now is that it is a partnership between North Sydney and Western Australia. Western Bears → Perth Bears – As of now, it appears to be the common name for the proposed team [1] [2] [3] [4]. It looks like it is the anticipated name this team. - BarrelProof I am aware of that, but this is a different case. For example Commonwealth of Australia is official name, but is known as simply Australia. In the case of the (Mighty) Bears partnership with WA, we have no clue whether it will be Western Bears or Perth Bears. Some sources say Western Bears and some more recently say Perth Bears. Also, if you want me to actually provide sources, please feel free to let me know. I might not get it immediately, I might even fall asleep soon TBH (Despite the time. - Support Despite no official confirmation, there is A LOT of noise that "Perth Bears" will be the official name of the club. "Western Bears" name has been scrapped and was never official to begin with. "Perth Bears" at least is a better interim. Mn1548 (talk) 13:21, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
Club name
[edit]Various news agencies are suggesting various names that the team will be named. Some are suggesting Perth Bears, others Western Australian Bears. Clearly nobody really knows for certain. Suggest that the team continue to be referred to as the Western Bears until such time as the name is confirmed when the article can be moved.
Likewise we don't know what the ownership structure will be, so adding official names that are just guesses is pointless. While there will be some lineage, it will be a new club, not the North Sydney Bears revived. Uaerinalte (talk) 06:53, 28 April 2025 (UTC)

- Yes, it is reported to be a new team, but the previous proposal was to have the records continued. We still don't know what is going to happen. Premierships
[edit]In the infobox here, it displays the titles/runner up of the North Sydney Bears. Surely, this team is a brand new entity with no history that starts on 2027? Exactly the same as what we do here for St. George Illawarra Dragons. Thoughts? MaskedSinger (talk) 09:28, 8 May 2025 (UTC)

Western Bears → Perth Bears – This new expansion team was first known as the Western Bears but recently, the name was changed to Perth Bears. (See here.) Pichpich (talk) 19:02, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
- By the way, when I requested this move, I was not aware that the same request had been declined little over a week ago and I could probably have waited a bit. Still, it seems to me that the above link makes it clear that Western Bears is the wrong title and that Perth Bears is probably the right one or at least a better one for now. Relationship to North Sydney Bears
[edit]While there is an association with the North Sydney Bears, the Perth Bears will be a new club, so thus it is incorrect to state it is the former resurrected. It is different to the South Sydney Rabbitohs that left and then returned to the competition. Uaerinalte (talk) 06:04, 10 May 2025 (UTC)
