- Change "| term_start = 29 December 2022" to "| term_start = 29 December 2022{{efn|Presumed by many to have either died in office or resigned.}}"
- Change "(born 21 October 1949) is" to "(born 21 October 1949) is{{efn|Presumed by many to have died.}}"
- Similarly to what was added to Ali Khamenei's page when his condition following the strike was still disputed. If necessary, add "between 9 and 13 March 2026" to the footnotes, as that is the time between Netanyahu's last confirmed public appearance and the release of that possibly-AI-generated video. Mx User (talk) 17:30, 15 March 2026 (UTC)
- He's posted a video, he's not dead. There were some rumors due to a video, no one claimed to have killed him nor was it claimed he had died of natural causes, at least no reliable source. 331dot (talk) 17:53, 15 March 2026 (UTC)
- Apparently, that video is also being widely accused of being AI-generated..? And reliable sources have commented on the speculation, even if not endorsing it—is that not something that can be used to source such footnotes? Mx User (talk) 20:26, 15 March 2026 (UTC)

- Alright, but either way, is this speculation not worthy of documenting somewhere in the article? Mx User (talk) 20:29, 15 March 2026 (UTC)
- Not in the lead/infobox, for sure. Maybe somewhere, but many people speculate about the status of world leaders, it's not always appropriate article content. But that's for the community to decide. 331dot (talk) 20:58, 15 March 2026 (UTC)

Not done: I'm sorry but that is the definition of a highly controversial change. There are clear WP:BLP concerns here and if you want to include anything about the rumours of his death in this article (certainly not the infobox) you're going to have to build some kind of a consensus for the change before you request the edit, but WP:CRYSTALBALL comes to mind here. If a bunch of news outlets start reporting on the rumours and it becomes some big news event you might be able to get a consensus on including something about it though. ―Maltazarian (talkinvestigate) 22:35, 15 March 2026 (UTC)
- I'm sorry I totally blanked on the ARBCOM restrictions for this topic area, you should not be trying to build any consensus because this is an article at the center of the Arab-Israeli conflict contentious topic has some quite extreme restrictions; you have to be extended confirmed to even take part in discussions about it, so while you're allowed to make edit requests you aren't allowed to try to build consensus for changes. Sorry about that, it kind of sucks but it's a drastic measure to alleviate the drastic workload that admins trying to moderate this topic area are faced with. ―Maltazarian (talkinvestigate) 22:43, 15 March 2026 (UTC)

- Didn't know that deepfake AI video based on a footage from TWO YEARS AGO (2024) is now a 'mental' (whatever that has to mean) 'conspiracy' now 😂 Talking about the AI coffee shop video, to be exact. The Green Pine (talk) 20:27, 16 March 2026 (UTC)
- Source that its from 2 years ago? Becuase the coffeeshop is getting death threats and has posted pictures about it. We should address that there is a silly conspiracy theory going around, at leas to dispel this nonsense. ← Metallurgist (talk) 20:32, 16 March 2026 (UTC)
- This is all still mental conspiracy theories. No real evidence he's dead. — Czello (music) 21:36, 16 March 2026 (UTC)
- It's not AI, it's a bunch of bots on X promoting this conspiracy theory to gain traction and engagement. It's bullshit. Netanyahu has made numerous other videos too. People just don't want to accept that he's still alive. TwistedAxe [contact] 12:48, 21 March 2026 (UTC)

- We can just put something short in the "Personal Life" subsection, like:
- "In early March 2026, rumors began to spread concerning the potential death of Netanyahu. Those spreading this rumor included that he had not been seen in public [source], had missed seven consecutive cabinet meetings[source2], and had released video purporting to be real which was later fact-checked to be AI-generated. State media for Iran and North Korea both reported his death. Netanyahu responded to this rumor by posting a video of himself having coffee and joking about the rumor; this video was also suspected by some [source1 again] to have been AI-generated."

Thoughts on mentioning the death claims?
[edit]To be clear, I'm talking about mentioning, not endorsing, these rumors (previous discussions were unclear or encouraged outright endorsement, and both seem to have already died down). Claims of Netanyahu's have been surprisingly widely discussed by major media outlets starting at least a week ago ([1]). Israeli sources began to reject them as early as five days ago ([2], [3]) and coverage by international sources since then has mostly ranged from extreme skepticism ([4], [5]) to explicit rejection ([6], [7]), while at least one source of unclear reliability appears to somewhat entertain them ([8] — while it clearly represents a minority stance, the fact that it was published just a few hours ago at least indicates that the rumors are not over).
Between a week of fairly sustained coverage and acknowledgement on multiple instances by the individual in question, I think these claims are prominent enough to deserve a mention. Even if false (as they most probably are), they still serve as a pretty stark demonstration of the increasing difficulty of verifying information in war in the AI age. — An anonymous username, not my real name 22:02, 20 March 2026 (UTC)
- Ah, it seems a user already went ahead and added a mention, though I'm not sure if it would be more appropriate in Prime Minister (2022–present), in the context of the Iran war, rather than Personal life. It also doesn't appear to quite capture the full scope of the claims and their implications, though I can't say how much needs to be discussed in the first place. Thoughts on either? — An anonymous username, not my real name 22:09, 20 March 2026 (UTC)
Add context of Gaza and Iran war into lead??

"The Big Yahu" nickname
[edit]the nickname "The Big Yahu" (after I researched has two reliable sources on it) where do we put it? Could a nickname like this have its own article? Wilson Palacpac III (talk) 00:55, 16 April 2026 (UTC)
- Given the scope of this article, I don't think that many sources warrant an inclusion here. I'm not sure this warrants a separate article either, but if you can find additional sources, that might be possible. I suggest you create an article draft through Wikipedia:Article_wizard/CreateDraft, getting it up to the standard and submitting it for publication in mainspace. Totalstgamer (talk) 18:45, 16 April 2026 (UTC)
- i mean, I think "The Big Yahu" should be in the article of Netanyahu as this "meme nickname" is targeted directly at him and to mock him due to him being the PM of Israel and his actions. Wilson Palacpac III (talk) 23:38, 16 April 2026 (UTC)
- If I make a meme mocking the concept of physics, and it receives a mention in one or two news articles, should it be included in the page Physics? I personally think the threshold is higher than that. Something *regarding* a subject is not enough, or we'd also have a section about Netanyahu's dietary preference (see sources 1, 2 and 3, from a quick google search), or any subject for that matter. Because our goal is to summarize information about a person and we cap page sizes, this is infeasible. Totalstgamer (talk) 06:22, 17 April 2026 (UTC)
