History
[edit]Absolute Label Services was founded in 1998 by Henry Semmence as Absolute Marketing & Distribution. In 2015, the company rebranded as Absolute Label Services as part of an expansion of its label services offering.[1]
In February 2022, the company was acquired by Swiss music technology firm Utopia Music as part of its expansion into label services.[2][3]
In July 2023, Utopia Music sold Absolute Label Services back to its original directors following a restructuring of the company’s business operations.[4][5]
Clients and partnerships
[edit]Absolute Label Services has worked with independent record labels, catalogue owners and artists across multiple genres. The company has provided label services support for releases involving artists including Steps, McFly, Jake Shears, Alphabeat and Sea Power.[6]
Absolute Label Services has also entered into catalogue agreements with independent rights holders including Cherry Red Records as part of wider industry catalogue divestment processes.[7]
Technology
[edit]Absolute Label Services operates a business management platform known as Anthology. The platform provides tools for release management, analytics, reporting and rights administration for independent labels and artists.[8]
The platform was launched as part of the company’s broader investment in technology infrastructure supporting independent music companies.[9]
